The Institute of Banking Personnel Selection has opened **CRP CSA-XVI** registration for Customer Service Associates in participating public sector banks. The [official detailed notification](https://www.ibps.in/wp-content/uploads/Notification_CRP_CSA_XVI-Final.pdf) lists 11,403 indicative vacancies across states and union territories for the 2027-28 cycle. Online registration and fee payment run from August 1 through August 21, 2026.
This is a state or union-territory based recruitment. A candidate can apply for vacancies in only one State or UT, and local-language proficiency forms part of the appointment path. The vacancy total is indicative rather than a guarantee of final allotment because participating banks can report changes before the process closes.
## CRP CSA-XVI lists 11,403 indicative vacancies
The annexure provides bank-wise, state-wise and category-wise figures that add to 11,403. Participating banks include Bank of Baroda, Bank of India, Bank of Maharashtra, Canara Bank, Central Bank of India, Indian Bank, Indian Overseas Bank, Punjab National Bank, Punjab & Sind Bank and UCO Bank. Union Bank of India is listed with vacancies not reported in the table.
Candidates should choose a State or UT after checking three things together: the local-language requirement, the vacancy table and the place where they can realistically accept an allotment. The notice does not allow a candidate to combine several states into one national preference. Readers comparing this opening with other public-sector routes can use Pagalishor's [PSU and bank recruitment window guide](https://www.pagalishor.in/articles/psu-recruitment-may-2026-nalco-mcl-and-sbi-windows) for broader context, while relying on today's IBPS PDF for this application.
## Graduates aged 20 to 28 form the main eligibility group
The notification requires a degree in any discipline from a university recognised by the Government of India, or an equivalent qualification recognised by the Central Government. The final result must have been declared on or before August 21, 2026. Candidates must be able to produce the mark sheet or degree record later.
The general age range is 20 to 28 years as of August 1, 2026. The notice translates that into a birth-date band from August 2, 1998 through August 1, 2006, both dates inclusive. Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe candidates receive five years of upper-age relaxation, OBC Non-Creamy Layer candidates three years, and persons with benchmark disabilities ten years, with other listed concessions subject to the notification.
Computer literacy is mandatory. The notice accepts operating and working knowledge supported by a certificate, diploma or degree in computer operations or language, or study of Computer or Information Technology as a subject in school, college or an institute.
## State choice and local language cannot be separated
Applicants must be proficient in reading, writing, speaking and understanding the specified local language of the State or UT they choose. The detailed notification carries the language list in Annexure III and describes a Local Language Proficiency Test for candidates who cannot establish the required proficiency through the accepted record.
A larger vacancy number is not automatically a better state choice. Candidates should select the State or UT where their language record and willingness to accept an allotment are both defensible. The application cannot be treated like a national preference form that will move an applicant freely to whichever state has seats left.
## The application fee is Rs 175 or Rs 850
The official fee is Rs 175, inclusive of GST, for SC, ST, PwBD, ESM and DESM candidates. All other candidates pay Rs 850, inclusive of GST. Bank transaction charges are additional where the payment service applies them.
Candidates should pay only through the official IBPS registration path and retain the e-receipt. A debit message by itself is not the same as a completed application. The final form, payment status and registration number should all be saved together.
## Preliminary and main examinations are separately timed
The preliminary examination has 100 questions for 100 marks in 60 minutes: English Language has 30 questions, Numerical Ability 35 and Reasoning Ability 35. Each test is separately timed for 20 minutes, and candidates must clear the cut-off IBPS sets in each test.
The main examination has 160 questions for 200 marks in 125 minutes. It covers General or Financial Awareness, General English, Reasoning Ability and Quantitative Aptitude. The notification also applies a penalty for wrong answers in the objective tests, so blind guessing can reduce the score.
The current calendar places pre-examination training and preliminary call letters in September, the preliminary exam in October, the result in November, the main call letter in November, the main exam in December and provisional allotment in March 2027. These are tentative milestones and IBPS can update them on its website.
## How to apply for CRP CSA-XVI
1. Open the [official CRP CSA-XVI registration portal](https://ibpsreg.ibps.in/csaxvijul26/) from the IBPS website. 2. Read the detailed notification and choose one State or UT after checking vacancies and the required local language. 3. Register with an active email address and mobile number, then save the provisional registration number and password. 4. Enter identity, graduation, category, language and examination-centre details exactly from the supporting records. 5. Upload the photograph, signature, left-thumb impression, handwritten declaration and any other file required by the portal. 6. Pay the applicable fee online and check that the payment and application statuses show completion. 7. Download the final form and e-receipt before the August 21 closing date.
The notification gives an August 21 date but does not promise a particular closing hour in its main schedule. Applying earlier leaves time to correct upload, payment or document problems while the registration window is still open.
## Keep the joining-stage documents in view now
Candidates should prepare date-of-birth proof, graduation records, photo identity, category or EWS certificate where claimed, disability documentation where applicable and proof supporting local-language proficiency. Ex-servicemen and other candidates using a special concession should follow the exact certificate proforma and date rules in the notification.
IBPS warns that eligibility documents are checked by the allotted bank. Clearing the preliminary and main examinations does not cure an unsupported category, age, qualification or language claim. The application should therefore be built from records, not from approximate memories of marks or dates.
## Frequently asked questions
Q: How many vacancies are listed under CRP CSA-XVI? A: The official state-wise annexure adds to 11,403 indicative Customer Service Associate vacancies. The figures can change with participating-bank requirements.
Q: What is the registration deadline? A: Online registration and fee payment are scheduled from August 1 through August 21, 2026.
Q: Can a candidate apply for more than one State or UT? A: No. The notification says candidates can apply for vacancies in one State or UT only.
Q: What qualification is required? A: A recognised graduation degree or equivalent qualification is required, with the result declared by August 21, 2026, along with the stated computer-literacy and local-language conditions.
Q: When are the examinations expected? A: The preliminary examination is tentatively scheduled for October 2026 and the main examination for December 2026.
Candidates who already know their State or UT and can support the language requirement should register before the final week. The biggest avoidable mistake in this cycle is choosing a vacancy table first and discovering the language or document problem later.
